Dragon Earring Commission for C

Dragon Earring Commission for C

They're adorable little things. I have no idea why the turquoise/aqua blue decides to wash out on almost every picture, but it's quite vibrant in person. ...Or in dragon. ...Or in... dragon-person. In... yeah.

So this would be a prototype attempt at a dragon bracelet (and a legless version, at that). I just wanted to test something. And I rather liked the idea of the hooking mechanism being both visible, and also part of the critter. He works quite well, actually, and I'm testing out exactly how he works before I try again. I do think the next one with have a wire tail (for neatness alone, really) and I'll be experimenting with wire legs and feet... well, we'll see.

Also. For the most part, Dias is copper--but there are subtle gold diamonds spiraling around him. The gold explodes in the tail so it's a bit more noticeable, but it's really hard to photograph.

Dasra

So perhaps I went a bit overboard in terms of sparkly... but I can't find it in myself to apologize. I happened to have Swarovski crystals that perfectly matched Dasra's color scheme, and so... well. SHINY.

Dasra is an aquatic dragon, spending most of his days slithering along the sands on the bottom of the ocean and enjoying a good game of tag with the locals. Unfortunately none of them really appreciate his sense of humor; when he says the loser will be eaten, he's not joking. He's just grinning. Widely. Ah well.

Also, it is enormously hard to tell, but he has two yellow ridges above his green eyes. I swear sometimes I hear my camera laughing at me.

Clyde

Clyde

I like Clyde. Clyde is an okay guy. I bet you'd like him to if you took the time to sit down and talk to him. Sure he looks all mean and dangerous, but do you know how soft he really is when you pet his spikes? Do you know he likes a little scratch behind the ear? Clyde is awesome.

I know, he's weird. And different. And bigger and heavier than all the others, more of a bangle than a bracelet... but he is cool. The "spikes" are attached in such a way that they bend really easily so there's not really a chance of getting poked with them, and his fingers are free to dangle at will. The catch is a little tricky, but I think people will get it after a try or so.

There are occasionally some in my Etsy shop, but they can always be commissioned in a vast range of colors.

Arlen

Arlen

It's not that he's flashy--he can't really help that much. Arlen's not the sort to be full of himself or talk down to others, always helpful and respectful... but he just has to flaunt those colors once in a while.

So, something a little different in a lot of ways. Same clasp done in a different way, and the result is... "dramatic", I suppose. Very enjoyable, I think.

Alchemist's Pet

Alchemist's Pet

29 November 2011

It's not uncommon for the most powerful magicians to keep a jeweled snake as a familiar. It's a bit of a status symbol, admittedly--but alchemists are able to make use of the jewels, and certain magicians can keep spells within them. The result is a "living" familiar, something that moves and appears to have a bit of its own consciousness.

Of course, this is not a jeweled serpent but a jeweled dragon, of a different sort of connotation in magic... Whether the dragon created the alchemist or the alchemist created the dragon remains unclear. I suppose you can ask, if you'd really like to.

I love this necklace. I didn't when I was in the middle of making it. This is the culmination of possibly a little over two weeks of work. Many, many hours. Many, many beads, and lots of Swarovski crystals. Depending upon the lighting, you will be able to notice the subtle shift in color of the diamonds along her back. It's a lot more obvious in person, but trying to get bright light on these beads for photographing purposes? No. Just, no.

And just because, yes I view her as a she. ...She just feels like a she. Now I must rest my poor abused wrist. Ow. A worthy ow, but an ow.
