Draus

Draus

16 June 2014

Draus' preferred environment is rainforest, it must be said; somewhere warm and humid with plenty of overgrowth to crawl through.  He's certainly colored for it, but that's not the real reason.  Truth is, he just enjoys jumping from waterfalls.  Even so, I think he'll find a nice comfortable home to be just as nice.  Maybe more so if he gets some mango once in a while.

A very old (as in nearly a decade old, as in I am old) sculpture given new life and new vibrancy with this reinforcing gloss coating... though that makes the dark green nearly impossible to photograph.  Go me.

Kyla

Kyla

16 June 2014

He was named Kyla after the rare blue coastal lilies that grow on the beach across the ocean from his home.  Preferring to spend his time daydreaming, he's also quite adept at helping plants to grow and flowers to bloom.  Really quite taking after his namesake, it seems.  (And if anyone asks you what kind of a dragon has hooves, shame them.  A hooved dragon, obviously.)

An old sculpture (nearly a decade old, how did that happen) that definitely deserved to be spruced and shined up a little.  Boy have I learned a lot since then.

Children of War

Children of War

18 June 2014

Even with the world torn apart all around them, they've still found the will to survive with each other.

Raimi (gold with black spots) - He's been called the ringleader; not that he minds the title or what it implies, but it does get awfully tiring to be the one attacked first. He hardly shows his age, being second youngest of the group, but that probably comes from an awful lot of traveling and loss. He knows he's lucky to have lost only one toe to certain disasters, as it could have been a lot worse. His parents, he never knew, but the kindly old spinster that took him in was lost to him on the same day his toe was... not that he'll talk about it. Even so, he's got heart; a hidden, bright, hopeful heart that he guards like treasure. It lets him fight, keeps him holding on. And, secretly, he's really come to appreciate the new family he's acquired.

Rhekev (green with gold wings and red markings) - He's a great deal smaller than he should be, bordering adolescence... but that comes from near starvation. His colors have also intensified far too early (he shouldn't have any red markings on him until he reaches adulthood), but he likes to say that's from having become strong on his own. He was the last member to stumble upon the group, but his place was natural--he's a fighter. Those red markings along with the old injury that made his left wing useless for flying are helpful for getting potential prey to think he's still injured, then the others strike; and though he's young, his claws don't show a lack of skill. His elders may well have died defending him, but he doesn't know; he's still haunted by the fact that he ran as they told him to, and never looked back.

Lehr (red with black markings) - He's the oldest of the group by two turns, but that really doesn't matter. He'd have had an astounding wingspan of crimson and onyx, if he hadn't gotten in quite a scrap when he was a bit younger, and lucky to survive. There was panic throughout the herd, parents were separated from their children by a group of the fearful-driven-insane. As Lehr would say, "things happened". The fact he made it out with both eyes and all his limbs in tact signals that he had a lot of fighting to do, but at least he won his life. He's not really bitter by abnormal degrees, though he does wander off by himself to contemplate once in a while.

Eva (blue with blue and purple wings) - As the only flier, gathering information has become her specialty, but she can fight just as well as the rest; not to mention the fact that she has a hellish speed during flight, but the landings suffer quite a lot from the loss of half of her tail. Her scars show the number of small fights she encountered, hardening the outer shell of her emotions. She wants her life back, her parents, her brothers and sisters, her untouched home in the mountains. She's not sure if she really believes that there's anything to go on living for, but she thinks it's worth it to try and see. Curiosity, after all, is what's kept her alive so far.

In all, these are the children of war, the generation who has inherited the war that their parents waged.

Exy and Tecate

Exy and Tecate

16 July 2014

"Exy" (green and gold), some nickname from a forgotten past. They call him a Storm Chaser because he's got a death wish: treasure hunter, pirate, lunatic. That pendant belongs to something bigger, and trying to find out what has already driven him mad. He's a gentleman, though, and he's glad to help out who he can along the way. Try to touch the gem, though... well. There aren't any left alive to tell what happens after.

Very few have ever met Tecate (blue and black), with good reason. Palisuade is one of many dead cities destroyed by wars, but Tecate knows the city was targeted because of the heirloom around his neck. One could call him rather forcefully fated to follow Exy--though exactly why is a mystery even to him. He's no pirate himself, preferring to move through night shadows and follow rumors of Exy's wanderings. Some day he'll either get the pirate to join him... or get the pirate's jewel by any means necessary.

Another pair of decade-old sculptures that I've decided to spruce up. Actually trying to photograph the sheer shine on these guys was nearly impossible.(For Sale)

Project Omega: Test 1-3-7.1

Project Omega: Test 1-3-7.1

20 July 2014

Test subject proved successful until the need arose to stop killing on command. It seemed to acknowledge the order with a turn of its head--then promptly ignored it. Eventually destroyed. New system needs to be implemented. Inorganic white blood mixed with organic blood proves to be toxic to anything except test subject.

Long, long ago, I was making monsters. This guy is old and shows it, in detail. I still really enjoy how he turned out, though. His helmet/mask is "some metal", a ring I'd picked up for cheap somewhere. The rest just kind of happened.(For Sale)

Nitese

Nitese

20 July 2014

Barter and trade is more or less a matter of survival, and Nitese has become an expert in it. He somewhat had to be an expert in something; his markings make him exceptionally unique. He can be found whether he wants to be or not, so better that he keeps an honest business and a decent flow of goods. Of course, it's your own fault if you don't ask the right questions before a handshake.

A little experiment with an attached base/stand. What is it? A discarded peanut butter jar lid. Skippy, I believe. As for the ring, it was part of a secondhand costume jewelry lot, so I'm pretty certain it's just lovely green glass and... well, "some metal".(For Sale)

Tolant

Tolant

03 August 2014

He was a guardsman for a large clan made up of five families, including his own. Despite the somewhat obvious markings, he was also a master of stealth--successfully protecting the clan even after most of them had been forcefully broken apart. While even his friends might say he has his pride... he certainly understands the jester gods.

Another super ancient sculpture that's been "prettied up" a bit. He's one of the first that I did, really... strange that he's still one of my favorites. (Sold)

Sephiroth and Cloud Dragons

Sephiroth and Cloud Dragons

14 August 2014

Well it made sense at the time, alright? And I'd wanted to try something different, so... Sephiroth and Cloud dragons!

Man, the things I went through for this. I'd wanted Cloud to look battle worn and fed up, but Sephiroth to look eager and cocky, and both of them to be separate sculptures in their own right, so... Well, I'm still happy with them. Even if the angles of that folded wing of Cloud's was the most maddening thing in the world to work around, because even then I pushed myself way too much without thinking of the consequences. A long tradition! I'm still so proud of how Sephiroth's wing came out. And, well, I'm happy with these two.

As a side note, dragon!Cloud did at one point have a Buster Sword. Of all the damn things to break during a move, that did. Along with wing parts of dragon!Vincent, which is why you don't see him here. (He is salvageable. The sword was not. Besides, Cloud can't really hold it, so I didn't see the point.) (For Sale: Dragon!Sephiroth, and Dragon!Cloud)
