Plucking the String

Date: March 25, 2004
Genre: "garage punk", perhaps?

I had intended at the start to do something that literally sounded like it was recorded in one take in a garage.  Perhaps I should be ashamed with how good the results turned out to be.  But, hell, the song amuses me and I like how it came out, so that's all that really matters.
As for the exact moment that inspired this?  I was in the bathroom, doing what one normally does in a locked bathroom, when I head my father-in-law walking into the house from the garage.  Then it all just kinda flooded.  (Psssst, we don't really get along...)

Lyrics
Hard to get by
But I'm doing alright
Why are you trying to bring me down?

Did what I could
And I'm feeling good
Not even you could bring me down
You could never fucking hold me down

Call on Jesus Christ
And your sickest vice
You ain't ever gonna hold me down
Never gonna suck me down

Go ahead and try
Use your "alibi"
Can't fucking hold me down

Fucking business goals
And your lack of soul
No way you can hold me down

And I, I have red eyes
And I, wear a lot of black
And I, I hear voices
And I'm okay with that

I am not a victim
Only I decide when I'm abused
And not by you

You're
So obsessed with
What's normal
To you

When I
Really think that
You're sicker
Than the rest

And I
Am the freak that
Married your boy
What are you
So afraid of?

Call on Jesus Christ
And you're sickest vice
You ain't ever gonna hold me down
Fucking corporate goals
And your lack of soul
No way you can hold me down
You just can't keep me down

I'm just a little bit crazy
I'm just a little bit crazy
I'm just a little bit crazy
But no more than you
