Plucking the String

Date: September 22, 2005
Genre: another three chord obsession

I didn't mean to.  Honestly, I didn't.  Pretty much everyone I know is sick of hearing about a certain video game series that I recently completed the sequel to and... well... I didn't mean to make another song about a video game.  Goes to show... something, I dunno.
It was only an experiment.  All recorded in well under an hour.  Everything is a first take, not at all planned ahead of time, so... it comes as a surprise to me that it made any sense at all.
Oh, and the voice.  yes, that's been pitch-shifted.  And... it took me a very long time to try and make it sound at all "decent".  But it still sounds like a tone-deaf adolescent.  Ah well.  It serves it's purpose--experimentation.  And to further annoy people who are sick of hearing me rant about a certain video game.

Lyrics

Gentle obsession
Not so gentle this way

The day is bright
The stars aligned
The sun is warm
The stars still shine

What have you come back to
Where have you been
(I see the shine
I see the din)

Took the wrong day to pick your ire
She'll rest
She'll rest in the fire

What have I done
Where have you been
What have I done
What is this sin

I don't understand you
I don't want to know who you are
I don't understand you
I don't want to know where you've been

Stars still shine
The stars still shine

There's a clock
Upon my wall
The fingers point
To the moment I fall
The moment I fall

I bet you'll set me up
I bet you always knew
I bet you're planning for the fall
I bet you're planning for the fall

Bet you set it up
Did you set it up
Did you set me free
Just to set me up
Just to set me apart

I don't understand
The sun's still warm
The stars still shine
The stars still shine
