Twilight
Forced
to be a loner, he'd been
searching for food in a cave. The solitary egg he found looked like a
viable meal--until it hatched
and the dragon inside looked at him.
Check out their picture together for the rest of the story; the Twilight
found what he saw hard
to believe. Certainly the young thing slithering clumsily before him
wasn't another Twilight kin... but it wasn't without Twilight
properties. He hadn't any idea there could be others in the area, not
to
mention more than one specie--
It was then that he heard a noise behind him.
Turning, he took a protective stance. Damned if he or the young were
going to die before he found out what was going on.
They are called Twilights, you see, because they
look
like a night sky. This particular one happens to be an adolescent, so
very few of his adult scales have grown into place and hi horns have
yet
to form completely. Nor does he have his claws in place--but he
certainly looks formidable.
Technical details: those scales are bits of abalone
shell I bought a long time ago (I'd bought them for the eventual
creation of jewelry, but... this is cooler). This is the largest
sculpture I've done yet, and I just love it. 12 inches from nose to
tail, and the highest point (also the tail) stands at 8 inches high.
His
eyes are a lovely brown, by the way.
