From the great expanse of southwestern United States (somewhere between Tucson and Las Vegas, don't ya know), may I introduce Lark! Oh, she seems very busy, darting here and there, but she's very serious about her running. Part roadrunner, you understand. She wouldn't say no to a race, of course, but once the morning run is over comes the afternoon cold drinks and sandwiches in the shade, where she's more than happy to discuss whatever you might fancy.
The idea was more roadrunner than chocobo, but apparently the chocobo took over quickly. No complaints; Lark is as dazzling as she is enthusiastic, sporting glass beads and swarovski crystals on one side of her tail and wing feathers, and soft sparkly painted details on the other side. Wired tail feathers, toes, legs, neck and head make her fully poseable, with a hinged jaw and wing feathers that can "open up" or "fold in" to give her extra expression. Made of some of my seemingly endless old stock of both acrylic and mixed wool and recycled acrylic yarns, and stuffed with polyfil, she's more than sturdy enough to hold up many poses with a gentle hand.
As for the sweater/shawl/poncho, well, it gets cold in the desert at night! She needs something on those morning runs, so a crocheted shrug of one kind or another suited well enough. As for the clasp, it does indeed resemble the "air freshener tree". In truth it was a piece of wood I found in the yard that had been chewed up by a lawnmower, but in such a perfect way that I had to clean it up, drill some holes, paint it and make it into the perfect button. ...Well, I think so, anyway. Found art. Kinda. Environmentally friendly!
As for total measurements, Lark stands at a full height of 12.25 inches to the tip of her crest, roughly 13 inches from her chest to the ends of her tail feathers (when up but "relaxed"), and has a full wingspan of 13 inches.
Soon to be available during Desert Bus for Hope!
